The show is created by Andrew Goldberg, Nick Kroll, Mark Levin, and Jennifer Flackett. While it is primarily a funny show featuring lewd and crude absurdity and raunchy, often profane jokes, ‘Big Mouth’ also depicts deeply insightful portrayals of issues that plague our society and us as human beings. Apart from hilarious bedroom and toilet humor, the series also focuses on topics such as sexuality norms, societal taboos, guilt and shame, anxiety, depression, sexual coercion, gender roles, consent, self-acceptance, and toxic relationships. With 4 seasons of ‘Big Mouth’ streaming on Netflix, it’s only natural that you wonder about Season 5. Here are all the details about ‘Big Mouth’ Season 5 that we know.

Big Mouth Season 5 Release Date

‘Big Mouth’ Season 4 released on December 4, 2020, on Netflix. ‘Big Mouth’ usually premieres new seasons in late September or early October every year. Season 3 was released in October 2019 but Season 4 was delayed by two months due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Since Netflix has already renewed Seasons 5 and 6 since before Season 3 was even released, we know for sure that we are getting at least 2 more new seasons of ‘Big Mouth’. Considering everything, ‘Big Mouth’ season 5 can be expected to premiere in late 2021, with possibly a November or December release date.

Big Mouth Season 5 Cast: Who is in it?

All of the show’s main and supporting cast is expected to return in Season 5. Show creator Nick Kroll leads the cast of ‘Big Mouth’, voicing several main and supporting characters including Nick Birch, one of the protagonists who is based on Kroll himself, Lola Skumpy, Maurice the Hormone Monster, Rick the Hormone Monster, Coach Steve Steve, and many other guest characters. Nick’s best friend Andrew is voiced by John Mulaney, who also plays Grandpa Andrew. Jessi Klein is Jessi Glaser and Jason Mantzoukas portrays Jay Bilzerian.

The standout star of the series is Connie, Maury’s female counterpart, and her throaty voice is provided by Maya Rudolph, who won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance in 2020 for her role as the hormone monstress. Jordan Peele is the voice actor for the Ghost of Duke Ellington. Jenny Slater previously voiced the bi-racial Missy Foreman-Greenwald but in the aftermath of the BLM protests, she stepped down as Missy’s voice and Ayo Edebiri took over in Season 4’s last two episodes. Andrew Rannells voices Matthew MacDell and Jean Smart is the Depression Kitty. Maria Bamford provides the voice for Tito the Anxiety Mosquito.

Big Mouth Season 5 Plot: What can it be About?

‘Big Mouth’ Season 4 deals with serious issues like anxiety, depression, racial identity struggles, coming out as gay, and sexual coercion. In the final episodes of the latest season, Jessi moves back to Bridgeton, Nick and Andrew each deal with their own mental health crisis, Missy embraces her “black” self, Devon divorces Devin, Matthew comes out to his parents, and Jay and Lola break up. Season 5 will likely continue these storylines, with Jay and Lola definitely carrying their war into the new season (they actually say it in the episode). The hormone monsters will all make a raging return. It’s also possible that Tito the Anxiety Mosquito, Depression Kitty, and Shame Wizard are not quite done with the kids and may make a comeback. Moreover, we might see some of the characters have their first sexual experiences. Maybe someone will even lose their virginity next season.
